This is a bit of a tip to Korg Zero8 users out there - don’t bother trying to patch an external harddrive thru the mixer, to your platform (in my case its to a new MacBook Pro 2.66).
Turns out, Korg Mixers do NOT like having a secondary data source being connected, while active in production - it took me ages to work it out, but the confusion ended with my touchscreen complete bamboozled, and off calibration (no Y-axis).
So I thought I’d just note this down - in case anyone finds this interesting.
Hi! Hello! Konichiwa! G’day! Whatever hello is in Russian!
It’s been quiet around these parts for too long, my friends - and for that I apologize. I guess I can’t leave it up to Alex to do ALL of the work on the website - seriously, you should see some of his saved drafts for the future: mostly about how cool he thinks TIGA is not, and why everyone should dress up like Eiffel65 (pictured right). It’s TRUE! Believe me! Alex wants to be Eiffel65!!!!
So the reason for my absense has been a tale of woe - as my Macbook Pro (2006 model), decided to finally give up the ghost, in early July. CO-IN-CI-DENTALLY, only just after my extended warranty had expired. So when I had taken it to Mac1, they informed me that the ‘Logice Board’ was crapola, and it would cost me $2300 to replace!
I still to this day don’t know (and don’t really care) what the f### a ‘logic board’ is - but I sure wasn’t going to bother working that out, and instead bought a new Macbook Pro 2.66ghz 15Inch.
Here’s a hilarious review (which is obviously a little old, now), by techy Lou Fernandez:
So, yes - the Macbook Pro is a great piece of performance machinery - but I too had some small gripes about the way the 15-inch has been meddled with in at design.
They could have at least kept one of the USB ports on the right hand side of the laptop - so that those who are right handed, don’t have to have a cable go around the back of the laptop (and get caught), to connect their mouse into.
FIREWIRE 400!!!! My Zero8 mixer is 400! And for some reason, I asked around most of the major mac related stores in Brisbane, and no-one could supply me with a 800 to 400 cable locally. I ended up having to order one, which I’m now waiting for!! Grrrrr!!
On that note, I just want to point out how cool I think LaCie are for creating ‘flat cables’:
Alex says: you see the bigger 64 key one?
Alex says: er 192 actually
Adam says: hrmmm..
Adam says: yeah
Adam says: do the buttons even light up?
Alex says: it would appear not
Adam says: gay
Alex says: haha
Alex says: ah money mark has one. . .heh
Alex says: damn thing is as big as him
Adam says: oh well that makes it even more gay
Alex says: yeeeeeeeeeeeeees
